Working with MRS: FAQs

1) What makes MRS different from other firms or freelancers?

​

MRS takes the time to get to know you and your organization to customize projects that will best meet your needs. We value transparency, so we provide clear, detailed project plans that include tasks and deadlines to ensure everyone on the team is on the same page. Also, with over 13 years of experience, we can anticipate potential bumps in the road and adapt project plans as needed without sacrificing quality.

MRS approaches our work with a lens of inclusivity. We constantly ask ourselves who is being included, who is not, and how we can structure our processes to ensure accessibility and participation for all. Finally, MRS stays curious. We never assume that we know everything and constantly seek opportunities to broaden our learning through our client work and through professional development.

2) I submitted a request for a discovery call. What happens next?

​

During this meeting, I will ask questions about your organization, current challenges, project goals, and your budget. I'll explain the process for the proposed project based on the information shared. This meeting is also an opportunity for you to learn more about me and ask me questions about my experience.

​

After the initial consultation, I will draft a scope of work based on our conversation. The scope of work will include tasks to be done and the estimated service fee. You and your team will have time to review it and make suggestions/edits. Once both parties agree on the scope of work, I will send the final version and a contract for your signature. Also, this is a great time to send me any HR paperwork I need to complete!

Once the paperwork is complete, it is time to get to work! You will receive a detailed project plan that includes milestones and deadlines. We can also set up a communication plan for check-in meetings for the project's duration.

3) How much do you charge?

​

When you receive your scope of work and contract, it will include an estimated fee. In general, I base the project fee on how many hours I will need to complete each project milestone. The baseline rate for 2024 is $100/hour. Rates may increase depending on the complexity of the project and the timeline.

4) What happens if we need additional work?

If you need additional services after the contract is signed, I will send you an updated scope of work for your approval with updated deadlines and cost of services.

5) What are your payment policies?

I will work with you to determine the best payment schedule for your organization. The two most common options are:

  • Pay ½ of the fee upfront and ½ of the price at the end of the project

  • Pay per project milestone completed

Payments are due within 30 days of receiving the invoice.

​
